Letter: In spite of challenges, RIH staff are working hard

Editor:

I recently had to go to the emergency room at Royal Inland Hospital to have glass removed from my foot.

I drove myself and walked in. It was fairly busy and there was a wait, nothing I wasn’t expecting. At any given time, there were between 15 and 25 people waiting.

The ER was severely understaffed and someone came out and announced they were doing the best they could with only two nurses for all of emergency.

I was called in after a three-hour wait. In the 30 minutes it took to deal with my foot, I observed a very upbeat and dedicated staff working hard and helping each other get patients through as efficiently as possible.

I can only imagine how difficult the past two years have been and I commend RIH staff for their performance, patience and genuine caring smiles.

I truly appreciate and thank you all.
