Letter: Let’s rethink temporary housing plan

Re: Alex McLean’s letter of Sept. 5 regarding the temporary housing that will be built on Mission Flats Road (‘Temporary-housing numbers too high’):

I agree with most everything McLean wrote.

At almost $5,000 per month per resident for three years, it is not a very cost-effective project.

Do we expect the homeless to turn their lives around and find jobs in 36 months?

I really don’t think that will happen. I know the plan is to help them and I would like to volunteer to help.

It it difficult to pull yourself out of that deep ditch. The program should be longer and more cost-effective.
