When the North Shore library closed for renovations recently, my spirits lifted.
But, I re-entered the building post-reno and was underwhelmed. Beige walls, except for one screaming green. The fireplace dismissed. Chairs moved.
The changes seem to have been designed with no thought of flow, beauty or design.
Why can’t we have libraries that are inviting and esthetically beautiful?
Why must we have expedient Band-Aid solutions in an attempt to upgrade?
