Letter: Poor health service not uncommon

Carrie McAstocker is not alone in her need for more care from Interior Health (‘Carrie is fighting for her independence’).

I have multiple sclerosis and live with my cat. I used to get services twice a day. When the pandemic arrived, I understood staffing was going to be an issue, so I went down to one visit at night to help with dinner and commode-cleaning.

In February, my care visits were cancelled two days in a row. I was told to have a backup plan if they cannot make it. I have been complaining through the system and spoke to someone in Burnaby.

I would love to know if this is happening to people who are paying for this service and if Interior Health is still charging the ministry for the visits anyway.
