B.C. Division champion Kamloops Blazers wrap season with shutout win over Prince George Cougars

The Kamloops Blazers put an exclamation point on their stellar and truncated 2021 WHL campaign on Wednesday at Sandman Centre.

Logan Bairos tallied his first WHL goal and Dylan Garand stopped 28 shots for the B.C. Division champions in a 4-0 shutout victory over the Prince George Cougars.

Josh Pillar, Orrin Centazzo and Ethan Brandwood also notched goals for Kamloops, which finished the campaign at 18-4.

Centazzo, Montana Onyebuchi and Sean Strange are the graduating 20-year-old Blazers. Brodi Stuart, who was injured prior to the campaign, but stayed with the team in a coaching role, has also aged out of junior hockey.

Onyebuchi and Strange picked up assists on Wednesday.

Calgary Flames’ prospect Connor Zary is not expected to return to Kamloops for his overage campaign.

This season, which took place during a pandemic, will not feature playoff hockey.

No fans were in the building to salute the Blazers as they hoisted the B.C. Division trophy.
