Baseball franchise possibility in Kamloops

West Coast League (WCL) president Ken Wilson said Kamloops is a suitable location for a baseball franchise. "Our league is very interested in having a team in Kamloops," Wilson told KTW.

West Coast League (WCL) president Ken Wilson said Kamloops is a suitable location for a baseball franchise.

"Our league is very interested in having a team in Kamloops," Wilson told KTW.

"A few years ago, I would contact the city with some frequency and got responses that they were committed to the Golden Baseball League (GBL) and, once, that they were interested in talking, but they never answered my inquiries," Wilson said.

The GBL has since merged with the United Baseball and Northern leagues to form the North American Baseball League.

Victoria became the WCL's 10th member city earlier this month.

The team has not yet been named.

Wilson "had a potential owner for Kamloops pop up in the last week," but pursuing a team in the River City is not high on his agenda "unless the city folks have some interest."
