The Brown rink finished strong at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts on Thursday in Calgary.
Skip Corryn Brown, third Erin Pincott, second Dezaray Hawes and lead Sam Fisher, the Kamloops Curling Club rink that represented B.C. at the women’s national curling championship, knocked off Prince Edward Island 9-5 in the final draw of round-robin play.
B.C. and P.E.I. finished with matching 4-4 records, neither good enough to reach the Championship Pool.
Team Brown’s final curling percentages for the tournament: Brown (73 per cent, tied for seventh among fourths), Pincott (75 per cent, eighth among thirds), Hawes (80 per cent, tied for second among seconds) and Fisher (84 per cent, second among leads).
Eight teams qualified for the Championship Pool. Ontario (Rachel Homan) and Team Canada (Kerri Einarson) start on top of the pool with matching 7-1 records.
The top three teams after Championship Pool play will advance to the playoffs.
