The City of Kamloops is playing host to an event designed to energize local sports organizations and spur professional development and networking opportunities.
Day in Sport: Ready, Set, Revive! will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, at the Tournament Capital Centre.
“We are excited to have an in-person event for the community, as it’s been a long time coming due to the pandemic,” said Carolynn Boomer, executive director for PacificSport Interior BC.
Event highlights include keynote speaker Greg Stewart, who won gold in shot put at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, an Indigenous games and energizer activity session with Buzz Manuel Jr., a Sport for Life workshop (three NCCP credits) and a post-event social at Iron Road Brewing.
“This workshop is intended to inform local sport clubs’ executive members, coaches and parents with quality sport practices while connecting them to community partners and resources,” a city press release said. “Based on the long-term development approach, this workshop is designed with everyone in mind, including women and girls, Indigenous populations, newcomers to Canada and participants with physical or cognitive disabilities.”
