Dunstone of Kamloops alive and kicking at Brier after victory over Bottcher

Kamloops resident Matt Dunstone is within striking distance of the playoffs at the Tim Hortons Brier, along with the rest of the field.

Skip Dunstone and his Saskatchewan rink edged Alberta 8-7 on Friday night in Calgary in Championship Pool action to push their record to 7-3.

Alberta (Brendan Bottcher) dropped to 7-3.

Eight teams qualified for the Championship Pool, from which three playoff teams will emerge, with the top seed advancing straight to the final.

None of the remaining teams have been eliminated from playoff contention.

Dunstone will wrap Championship Pool action with two games on Saturday — 11:30 a.m. against Northern Ontario (Brad Jacobs) and 5:30 p.m. versus Manitoba (Jason Gunnlaugson).
