Four Kamloops lacrosse players snag NCAA scholarships

Four Kamloops athletes have earned NCAA athletic scholarships to play field lacrosse in the U.S. university and collegiate system.

Connor Barrett, Ethan Kaban, Millan Webster and Austin Krug, each of whom will graduate this spring from Royal Bay secondary in Victoria, will head down south in the fall to begin their post-secondary careers.

Royal Bay and its lacrosse academy is graduating 13 players, including the four Kamloops Minor Lacrosse Association products, to the NCAA ranks this year.

Barrett (Mount St. Mary’s University, Maryland) and Kaban (New Jersey Institute of Technology) will attend Division 1 schools

Headed to Division 2 institutions are Webster (Georgian Court University, New Jersey) and Krug (Montevallo University, Alabama).

Lucas MacNeil is a teacher at Royal Bay and director of the lacrosse academy.

This crop of seniors’ lacrosse season was cancelled, but the high school team continued to practise, scrimmage and compile film to attract NCAA coaches.
