Kamloops author Mike Levitt has released the second book in his sports series published by James Lorimer and Company.
Rugby Rookies, available for purchase online at lorimer.ca, is the story of 14-year-old Maddy, her friends and their struggle to start a girls’ rugby team.
“I loved it,” said Leslie Cripps, who played 47 times for the Canadian women’s rugby squad. “Rugby Rookies is a true reflection of strong female friendships and how wonderful ‘different’ can be on a team. The rugby action is perfect. So true and realistic.”
Levitt’s goals are to grow the game of rugby and entice a few hesitant kids to read.
“There is plenty of action, strong characters and a fast moving plot with a wee twist at the end,” Levitt said.
The first book in the series, Rugby Rivals, was released last February.
