Kamloops Blazers to announce Levis signing on Tuesday?

The Kamloops Blazers will make a player-signing announcement on Tuesday on Zoom.

Connor Levis seems the most likely subject of the 10 a.m. virtual media conference.

Mats Lindgren, picked seventh overall by Kamloops at the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft in Red Deer, and Levis, nabbed 20th overall, were verbally committed to the NCAA Division-1 University of Michigan Wolverines at the time of the draft.

Lindgren, a 5-foot-10, 146-pound defenceman from North Vancouver, switched course and signed last June with the Blazers, whose general manager is Matt Bardsley and director of player personnel is Robbie Sandland.

Levis, a 6-foot-1, 181-pound forward, remained unsigned while compiling impressive numbers last season in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.

The right-shot from Vancouver — a big, strong power forward who can rip the puck, according to Blazers’ goaltender Dylan Garand — racked up 12 goals and 26 points in 33 games for St. George’s School, a 15-year-old toiling in the under-18 midget prep league.

Levis is the only unsigned Blazers’ first-round draft pick since 2016, when the club selected forward Massimo Rizzo 15th overall.

Rizzo’s twitter profile notes he is committed to play for the University of North Dakota.

The Blazers nabbed defenceman Kaden Hammell of Langley 19th overall at the 2020 bantam draft.

He signed with the club in May.
