Homer wants to meet Kamloops NorthPaws' fans when the West Coast League baseball club aims to make its debut in June of 2022.
The NorthPaws received more than 60 name ideas and 150 submissions during its mascot-naming campaign, which ended on Wednesday with the great reveal.
"Homer was the most common submission and the most popular among fans via social media votes and at events," a NorthPaws' press release said.
The press release also notes the name invokes thoughts of home runs and blind loyalty to a team, along with the suggestion Homer is a bonehead who is full of shenanigans.
"We want to thank all the fans for helping us choose a name," the press release said.
