Twelve Kamloops Canoe Kayak Club athletes, representing Thompson Okanagan Zone 2, excelled at the 32nd BC Summer Games last month, collecting 60 of Zone 2’s total 70 medals at the event in Prince George.
The BC Summer Games, which had not been held for three years due to the pandemic, saw more than 3,000 of the province’s top young athletes competing in 18 sports, including soccer, baseball and canoe/kayak.
Kamloops and Zone 2 coaches Abigail Donaldson and Aiden Tabata were beyond pleased with their athletes’ results and recognize they sent a very strong team this year.
“Our Zone 2 athletes not only showed that they can bring home results, they showed that they can be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. I couldn’t be happier, and am very proud to be their coach,” Tabatta said,.

All KCKC athletes train in the summer at the Shumway Lake Water Sports Facility south of Kamloops.
