Kamloops RiverDogs entering final weekend of regular season

The Kamloops RiverDogs will be looking to improve playoff position on the final weekend of the 18-and-under B.C. Baseball College Prep League regular season.

Kamloops will play the Sun Devils in a doubleheader in Kelowna on Saturday, with game times set for 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Edith Gay Park.

The Dogs will twice play the Cougars in Chilliwack on Sunday.

League standings: Chilliwack (30-6), Cloverdale Nationals (29-8), Kelowna (19-18), Ridge Meadows Royals (20-20), Tri-City Thunder (14-19), Richmond Chuckers (16-22), Kamloops (16-22) and Township Blue Sox (3-32).

Round 1 of the post-season will feature four best-of-three series — 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6 and 4 vs. 5 — with winners advancing to a final-four tournament.

The Dogs earned a split with the Blue Sox on Sunday in Kamloops, winning Game 1 of the doubleheader 11-0 before dropping the rematch 8-7.

Tallis McLeod and Nic Bradley shared pitching duties in the shutout victory.

Matt Coxon, Jordan Calibaba, Lochlan Scholefield and Keegan Pittendreigh combined to drive in six runs in the first inning.
