Kamloops Sports Council awards, hall of fame induction ceremony moving online amid pandemic

The Kamloops Sports Council’s annual athletics awards gala and the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame banquet will be held online this year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Festivities will kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, at kamloopssportscouncil.com.

Hall of fame inductees include Kamloops hockey man Terry Bangen, FIFA referee Michelle Pye, prominent curler and coach Ray Olsen, accomplished figure skater and coach Kim Scott Kryger, former CFL player and local coach Brad Yamaoka and the Eve Skakun Rink, winners of three B.C. Senior Curling Championships in four years.

Athletics awards will be doled out in eight categories.
