Zakery Anderson played the hero for the Kamloops Storm on Friday in their first regular season game of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League campaign.
The 15-year-old forward from Kamloops scored in overtime to give the Storm a 3-2 victory over the Chase Heat at McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre.
Goals from Jarod Sigouin and Trevor Kennedy put Chase up 2-0 heading into the second intermission, but Lex Friesen and Peyton Kelly tallied for the home team in the third frame to force an extra session.
Brody Johnston and Branden Toye had assists on Anderson’s game-winning marker in OT.
Jakob Drapeau picked up the victory between the pipes.
The North Okanagan Knights will play host to the Storm on Sunday in Armstrong.
