Kelowna Rockets edge hometown Kamloops Blazers

Turner McMillen scored with less than five minutes remaining in the third period to push the Kelowna Rockets to a 4-3 victory over the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday at Sandman Centre.

McMillen and Colton Dach had two goals each for the Rockets, whose goaltender, Talyn Boyko, made 33 saves to pick up the victory between the pipes.

Matthew Seminoff, Connor Levis and Caedan Bankier scored for the Blazers, who went with Dylan Garand between the pipes.

Garand stopped 29 shots in a losing effort.

The Blazers honoured late team president Don Moores on Saturday, with 4,456 fans in attendance.

Moores died of a heart attack on June 30. His celebration of life was held at Sandman Centre on July 13.

The Blazers will play host to the Vancouver Giants on Wednesday, a 7 p.m. start at Sandman Centre.
