Whitecaps FC head coach Vanni Sartini joins Kamloops Last week (at 16:22 mark) on a pivotal match day for his club, which is 0-2 to start the Major League Soccer campaign.

We also feature Kelly Thomson (31:05), managing director of the Mustard Seed, and Leah Turner, Sylvie Lloyd, Patrick Gu and Sandi Vyse of the Kamloops Long Blades (44:05).

Sartini offers insight on how he plans to motivate his team ahead of its Concacaf Champions League tilt against Honduran side Real España on Wednesday at BC Place Stadium.

The Italian bench boss speaks of dealing with media — his father was a photo archivist for a newspaper in Florence — and lets viewers know who he leans on (his wife and father, among others) during tough times.

Sartini offers his take on how MLS stacks up against top-flight circuits in Europe and how the Whitecaps need to educate the general fan base on the importance of non-league games.

He also has kind words for TRU WolfPack head coach John Antulov and ponders promotion and relegation in MLS.

Thomson explains what The Mustard Seed does and touches on detox and recovery, the extreme weather shelter at Kamloops Alliance Church and West Victoria Street issues, among other topics.

The Long Blades continued their post-pandemic rejuvenation by playing host to the B.C. Short Track Speed Skating Championships last weekend on Mac Isle. We interview athletes and show video of the action.

Also covered on the show: Blazers' play-by-play man Jon Keen’s top-shelf performance amid drunk fans in Kent, Wash., Van Halen, Roy Orbison, Wee Willie Johnston, co-host Chris Foulds’ Abbotsford chat group (Pipes and the boys) and co-host Marty Hastings’ displeasure with his boss, Foulds.

Magic Mike Miltimore is expanding Riversong Guitars, but appears to be doing so in Sicamous, thanks in part to costs associated with finding buildings and property in Kamloops.

We introduce Volkswagen as the latest member of the #LastWeekCliqueSponsorshipConsortium. The car of the people joins the show of the people alongside Gord’s Appliance and Mattress Centre, Club Car Beverages and McDonald’s.
