The Kamloops NorthPaws have added a right-handed pitcher to their roster.
Adam Maier, a sophomore hurler for the UBC Thunderbirds, will join the club in time for its West Coast League expansion campaign, with the 54-game regular season schedule slated to begin in June.
The Vancouver product won the BC Premier Baseball League MVP in 2019, leading his North Shore Twins to the provincial championship with a 7-2 record, two saves, five complete games, three shutouts and a perfect game to accompany his 0.24 ERA and 88 strikeouts.
Maier, who represented Canada at the Under-18 Baseball World Cup in South Korea, was invited to the Kamloops Blazers’ rookie camp in 2016, but declined to pursue a baseball career.
Kamloops has signed 14 players and expects to carry between 25 and 30 players. The WCL is a 15-team circuit, with clubs in B.C., Alberta, Washington state and Oregon.
