The Kamloops NorthPaws took advantage of a four-RBI performance from 6-foot-7 slugger Zack Beatty to down the Kelowna Falcons 5-3 on Thursday in West Coast League baseball action at Norbrock Stadium, the victory clinching a three-game sweep of the visitors from the Little Apple.
Kamloops (25-25) is second in North Division standings and can nail down a playoff spot in its expansion campaign with one victory this weekend in Bellingham, where the Bells (31-19) will play host to the Paws in a three-game weekend series that begins on Friday.
Bellingham is atop North Division standings and cannot be caught.
The NorthPaws are on a five-game winning streak will finish with the best record among the league’s four B.C. clubs, a feat that makes them winners of the inaugural B.C. Cup.
Victoria (24-27), Kelowna (20-30) and Nanaimo (19-31) round out the B.C. contingent.
