Paz leads Kamloops Classics with silver medal at Western Canadian Swimming Championships

Three Kamloops Classic Swimming club athletes competed at the Western Canadian Swimming Championships, which were held last weekend in Edmonton.

Diego Paz led the Classics with a silver medal in the 1,500-metre freestyle event in the 13- to 15-year-old boys’ division.

Paz also placed seventh in the 400m individual medley and 200m fly, 12th in the 800m freestyle, 22nd in the 200m breaststroke and sixth in the consolation final of the 400m freestyle and 200m IM.

Haley Rowden, swimming in the 13- to 15-year-old girls’ division, was fourth in the consolation final of the 200m breaststroke and 400m IM, 24th in the 100m breaststroke, 29th in the 200m IM and 33rd in the 50m breaststroke.

Keana Smart placed fifth in the 50m backstroke in the 16-and-over girls’ division. She also placed third in the consolation final of the 200m backstroke and 11th in the 1,500m freestyle.
