Slideshow: Kamloops Long Blades top podium at Coyote Cup

The Kamloops Long Blades were howling at the eight annual Coyote Cup, a speed-skating event held on the weekend at McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre.

More than 100 skaters from across the province were in attendance, 34 of them from Kamloops. The Long Blades won the overall points title, edging Prince George.

Winning gold for the Long Blades were Keaton Birkenhead, Adam Turner, John Hill, Mason Pelton, Anisha Litt, Dashiell Taylor and Hudson Grant.

Taking home silver medals were Patrick Gu, Caleb Van der Merwe, Nelson Smith, Jared Roberts, Samantha Stadfeld, Jacob Beesley, Gabrielle Chase, Clara Beggs and Jessica Robertson.

Earning bronze medals were Leah Turner, Sophia Pankratz, Meena Litt, Kayleigh Roberts, Lennox Taylor, Jason Hill, Lucas Kopp and Hallie Sadegur.

Iron medals were claimed by Cameron Thomas, Laylah Sadegur, Atticus Cooluris and Jordan Smith, with copper medals awarded to Lienke Raath, Cadence Larochelle, Yael Van der Merwe, Anaka Niedziejko, Abigail Van der Merwe and Ashton Loland.

Clara Beggs, Lucas Kopp, Ashton Loland, Anisha Litt, Gabrielle Chase, Mason Pelton and Anaka Niedziejko recorded personal-best times in each of their individual events.
