Sloan of Merritt posts best result of young PGA Tour season

Roger Sloan had an encouraging performance at his third event of the 2020-2021 PGA Tour season, the Sanderson Farms Championship, which wrapped up on Sunday in Jackson, Mississippi.

The 33-year-old Merritt golfer finished tied for 32nd to earn $39,380, his 8-under-par total leaving him 11 shots back of winner Sergio Garcia, who won $1,188,000.

The Shriners Hospitals for Children Open is slated to begin on Thursday in Las Vegas.

Sloan missed the cut at his first two events of the season — the Safeway Open in Napa, Calif., and the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship in the Dominican Republic.
