Ryan Kealy, Travis Burkett and Tyrone Liebenberg of the Special Olympics B.C. Kamloops powerlifting squad fared well at a provincial meet on the weekend in Abbotsford.

Kealy and Burkett had the best and second-best scores overall, respectively, competing in squat, bench and deadlift.

"There were no awards for the overall scoring, but big picture, it shows how strong Kamloops is relative to the rest of B.C.,” said Jordan Sernaggia, who coaches the Kamloops team.

“That also means that we have a realistic shot at an athlete going to worlds. It all depends on what allocation we get, but fingers crossed.”

Liebenberg was the top athlete in bench and deadlift, but did not compete in squat for the team, which had coaching help from Shazia Hosenbocus.
