Spokane Chiefs to pick first overall in 2021 WHL Prospects Draft; Blazers pick 21st in Round 1

The Spokane Chiefs will pick first overall in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, which will be held on Dec. 9.

Each of the league's 22 teams participated in a four-phase draft lottery on Wednesday.

The lottery determined the order of selection for the first round of the draft, with inverse order of standing from the 2020-2021 regular season determining the order of selection for the second round and all subsequent rounds.

In Round 1, the Kamloops Blazers will pick 21st overall. In all subsequent rounds, the Blazers will select 20th overall.

Players eligible for the draft will be 2006-born players who reside in Alberta, B.C., Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington or Wyoming.
