Logan Stankoven of the Kamloops Blazers helped Team Canada to a first-place finish in Pool A at the Under-18 World Hockey Championship, which is taking place in Frisco and Plano, Tex.
Canada topped Belarus 5-2 on Saturday to finish Preliminary Round play with a record of 4-0, the victory setting up a quarter-final tilt on Monday against the Czech Republic (1-0-1-2).
Game time is 1 p.m. in Frisco.
Stankoven has two goals and five points in four games and his plus-7 rating is tops among Canadian forwards.
The other quarter-final tilts slated for Monday: Russia (2-1-1-0) vs. Belarus (2-0-0-2), Finland (2-1-1-1) vs. Switzerland (1-0-0-3) and Sweden (3-0-0-1) vs. the U.S. (1-2-1-0).
