Team Brown advances to playoffs in Home Hardware Pre-Trials, keeps Olympics hopes alive

Team Brown of the Kamloops Curling Club will compete on Saturday in playoff action at the Home Hardware Pre-Trials in Liverpool, Nova Scotia.

Skip Corryn Brown, third Erin Pincott, second Dezaray Hawes and lead Sam Fisher are slated to play at 3:30 p.m. against either Team Zacharias of Altona, Man., or Team McCarville of Thunder Bay, Ont.

Both finalists from the Pre-Trials will advance to the Tim Hortons Trials, which will run from Nov. 20 to Nov. 28 in Saskatoon and produce the four-person men’s and women’s teams that will don the Maple Leaf at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, which get underway in February in Beijing.

The 14-team Pre-Trials field was split into two pools of seven, with the top three teams from each pool moving on to the playoffs after the six-game round-robin.

Team Brown posted a 4-2 round-robin record to finish third in Pool A.
