In their first win over a nationally ranked team since the 2019-2020 Canada West campaign, the TRU WolfPack women’s volleyball team dispatched the UBC Okanagan Heat 3-1 on Saturday in Kelowna.
"We performed as a unit and the stars of the game were the bench players who came in and changed the direction of the game when it was needed," WolfPack head coach Behlul Yavasgel told TRU Sports Information, with a nod to the play of Sasha Haldane, Madison Maichin, Hadley Schmidt and Libby Meldrum.
Brooklyn Olfert led all hitters with 18 kills and added a trio of service aces. Ema Palkovicova compiled 16 kills.
TRU improved to 4-4 on the campaign and will play host to the Saskatchewan Huskies (4-4) next weekend at the Tournament Capital Centre. Match times are 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 3 p.m. on Saturday.
UBC Okanagan, which bested TRU 3-2 on Friday in Kelowna, dropped to 5-3 after the loss on Saturday.
