An upset in Round 1 of the WHL playoffs has paved the way for a B.C. Division clash in Round 2.

The Vancouver Giants, the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference, doubled the No.1 Everett Silvertips 6-3 on Monday at the Langley Events Centre to earn a 4-2 series win and advance to the second round, in which they will square off against the No. 2 Kamloops Blazers.

Games 1 and 2 will be played in Kamloops on Friday and Saturday, both 7 p.m. starts at Sandman Centre, before the series shifts to the Lower Mainland for Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday, May 10, and Thursday, May 12, at the LEC.

If necessary, Kamloops will host Game 5 on Friday, May 13, and Game 7 on Tuesday, May 17, and Vancouver will host Game 6 on Sunday, May, 15.

Kamloops swept the No. 8 Spokane Chiefs in Round 1.

No. 3 Portland and No. 4 Seattle will square off in the other Western Conference semifinal series.

Portland swept No. 6 Prince George in Round 1, while Seattle ousted No. 5 Kelowna in five games.
