Vic Rauter talks Scotties, snowstorms and broadcasting tips with Kamloops Last Week

Rauter offers insight on Scotties storylines, touching on Einarson, Jones, Fleury, Homan, Grandy, Silvernagle, Skrlik and how fans returning to the tournament may impact the outcome

TSN broadcasting legend Vic Rauter was in the mood to talk curling with Kamloops Last Week on the eve of the 2023 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

He offers insight on Scotties storylines, touching on Einarson, Jones, Fleury, Homan, Grandy, Silvernagle, Skrlik and how fans returning to the tournament may impact the outcome.

Rauter recalls a brutal snowstorm that happened on the final day of the 1986 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship in Kamloops — the event that started his curling broadcasting career.

This is Scotties No. 36 for Rauter. What is his favourite moment? And what about the Brier? What stands out?

The Curling Canada Hall of Famer also offers advice for broadcasters — shut up and get out of the way — and recounts his call of Brad Gushue’s win at the 2017 Brier.
