The Kamloops Track and Field Club will play host to a throws meet on Sunday and Monday at Hillside Stadium.
Kamloops Throws Meet No. 2 will be the first sanctioned athletics competition in B.C. since the pandemic hit in March, according to a City of Kamloops press release.
The KTFC has worked with Athletics Canada, BC Athletics and viaSport, the provincial government’s delivery agency for sport, to develop guidelines for safe competitions that follow B.C. health guidelines.
Guidelines include a maximum gathering size of 50 people, physical distancing and hygiene measures, along with daily symptom screening.
No spectators will be allowed to attend the event, which will allow athletes to record provincially and nationally recognized results.
The meet will be followed by Kamloops Throws Meet No. 3 on Aug. 7 and Aug. 8 and Kamloops Throws Meet No. 4 on Aug. 13.
